About the Brookline, Massachusetts Area

The trolleys, streetcars, ferries, and Amtrak trains play a big part in getting people around. Highway 9 is the main artery serving Brookline. Be aware that roads can sometimes be narrow or winding, originating from much-used colonial trails that are still in use. The average commute time is a half an hour. Logan International Airport is only 20 minutes away, and is served by almost 40 different airlines. HISTORY Brookline was officially part of Boston only until 1705, when it was incorporated as an official town. It had previously been home to the Algonquin Indians until Pilgrim settlers moved in to farm the area in the early 1600s. Generations later, an evenly divided mix of European cultures live in Brookline, including Irish, Russian, English, German, and Italian.
